Queen of above-average ballad Leona Lewis returns with excellent no-ballad Trouble

Generally acceptable and vocally gifted former X-Factor winner and Eurythmics coverer Leona Lewis is properly back with the proper lead single off her long-awaited third album Glassheart

Forget the whole Collide mess from last year (a song I was probably the only one to genuinely like, given that she was finally offering something a little different), forget the surprisingly good cover of Hurt she did around Christmas, forget the multiple delays of the album, Leona is BACK.

Her new single is not a ballad per se, it's more a moody urban track about her being "a whole lot of trouble". Thank God it's a great change from Happy (the track that boringly launched her second album, and in my opinion cursed it. Outta My Head should have been the first single to shake things off).

Even the inclusion of rapper Childish Gambino is a good idea. It takes Leona Lewis (truly the most gifted vocalist since 90s-Mariah, right? Proof: Bleeding Love: chills, Run: chills) to edgier territory and more exciting paths. OK, it's in no way a revolution, just a well-thought evolution. Now here's hoping she finally loses her virginity.

EDIT: now the song has quite an ugly "lyric video".

Trouble is out on October 7th (yeah, right) with Glassheart to follow a week later.

Listen to Jessie Ware's very good debut album Devotion

You'd better be warned: Jessie Ware's debut album Devotion is one of the records of the year. First single Wildest Moments is already a favorite here at It's Pop HQ.

While the record drops on August 20, you can already stream it in full HERE.

Ellie Goulding's new single Anything Could Happen is the exact opposite of a bad song

While the UK hottie is currently slaying the US Billboard Hot 100 with the excellent Lights (a single that was initially released 70 years ago) peaking at #2 last week, she is getting ready to drop her second album Halcyon on October 8th.

First single Anything Could Happen premiered while I was sunbathing in Corsica, hence my posting it just now. It is so good that you can be reassured for now: much like Marina and the Diamonds, Ellie Goulding is probably going to to the exact opposite of sucking on her second album. From the artwork, to the nice little lyric video featuring Instagram shots (how 2012), to, of course, the song itself, the whole thing is a total sucess. Can't wait to hear Halcyon. Better be sooner than later.

[SLAM IT TO THE LEFT] The best thing in the history of forever happened on August 12 in London

The best band in the history of pop music, aka the Spice Girls, re-united during the Closing Ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics, but you all know about this by now.

The fantastic five performed a spiced-up medley of their iconic hits Wannabe and Spice Up Your Life, reminding the entire world that:

1/ They are the ultimate girlband
2/ They had quite good songs
3/ They're aging more than well, and Mel B's boobs are still growing. Amazing.
4/ The Saturdays mostly suck

Looking fierce as fuck, and managing to make Victoria Beckham not look too annoying, they, above all things, seemed like they were having quite a kiki, proving that when it's done with the required commitment and sense of fun, pop music is the best possible thing in the World.

Now please, slam it to the left, shake it to the right and record a new one-off single that will slay pretty much everything that lives on Earth, and most probably whatever it is that's on Mars.

The Olympic Comitee being such fun-killing bitches with the YouTube videos of the ceremony (maybe they're B*Witched fans), I don't think the one posted above will last long, so get watching now!

You can buy the studio version of the medley, BUT, once again, the OC being stupid as fuck, you have to buy the whole album (containing such atrocities as Jessie J) to get your hands on the Spicy audio file of doom. Over my dead body.

Listen here though

My Spice Girls list on Twitter proved handy last night as the girls joyfully tweeted their excitement to be performing together again. The picture below is everything.

[LOCK THE DOORS] Madonna has a Kiki

Sometimes the world sucks and we have to suffer awful Ke$ha singles, an sometimes all is right and something like this happens.
Some guy named Captain Obvious just mashed two of the greatest tracks in the entire world, Madonna's Vogue and Scissor Sisters' Let's Have A Kiki (the sound of 2012 if you didn't already know). The result is camper and even sexier than Tom Daley on Grindr at Frisco Pride. Amazing.

Scissor Sisters' new album Magic Hour is available now, featuring Kiki and many other ace songs like Somewhere, Self Control, Keep Your Shoes On, Shady Love or Only The Horses. Buy here : FR, UK, US
Watch my interview with the whole band here. I had a Kiki.
